What’s It Worth? The Iconic Omega Speedmaster Chronograph

The collecting community has fixated on Rolex and Patek Philippe as the most collectible watches – however, one comparatively overlooked, highly collectible watch is the Omega Chronograph.

In the past 10 years, scholars have been able to identify short runs and odd variations of this stainless steel Speedmaster Professional that are worth as little as $800 and as much as $50,000 . It takes a real expert to know the subtle differences, because they often look identical at first glance.

Sometimes the difference is in the shape of the lugs (the things that hold the band in), the size of the buttons on the side, the configuration of the dial or the caliber of the movement.

Most Omega Speedmasters only bring $800– $1,200 . But some, like the 105.003  pictured here, are worth $5,000 –$7,000 . Recently, an extremely rare Omega Speedmaster belonging to Soviet Cosmonaut Anatoly Artsebarsky, with original box and papers, brought $47,000  at an auction in Geneva. (Please note that if you have an identical watch, it is worth only $5,000  – unless you too are a famous astronaut.)

Whether you are a dealer, private citizen or cosmonaut (but especially if you are a cosmonaut), we want to bid on your valuable watch.
